Understanding asking prices

HamsterAuto brings together vehicle listings from multiple sources. Prices are seller asking prices, not completed sale prices.

The reference uses listings matching the selected filters. With ten or more observations, the lowest and highest 10% are removed before averaging.

The canton is used with five or more listings. Otherwise, canton averages are combined nationally, weighted by listing count. No indicator is shown below three observations.

Narrow make, model, year and mileage to compare similar vehicles. Condition, accidents, service history, options and duplicates can affect the interpretation.

References refresh periodically. Check price and availability at the source. Historical charts group listings by publication month; they do not track depreciation of the same vehicle.
